Refined Marques, a German customizer, has taken on a project that Mercedes-AMG itself has never attempted: creating a cabriolet version of the G63 AMG. This bespoke, exclusive custom SUV is limited to only 20 units globally and carries a price tag of $1.3 million. Drawing inspiration from the 2013 G500 Final Edition, the Refined Marques’ version of the G-Class Cabriolet surpasses its predecessor with several unique enhancements, making this custom SUV a standout creation.
Under the hood, the Mercedes-AMG G63 Cabriolet maintains the powerful 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine characteristic of AMG, delivering 577 horsepower and 850 Nm of peak torque. This engine prowess is complemented by a nine-speed automatic gearbox that transmits power to all four wheels. In addition to its impressive performance, the SUV features suicide rear doors, which, although small, facilitate easier entry and exit for rear-seat passengers.
One of the most notable upgrades in this custom model is the simplified roof mechanism. Unlike the previous generation, the roof of the G63 Cabriolet can be opened easily by pressing the brake pedal to release latches and then pressing a button to stow the roof away. This improvement was inspired by the son of Refined Marques’ CEO Ahmed Al Bakry, who envisioned a Brabus G700 with a soft-top roof and a small door for easy access.
The first of the 20 units was unveiled at an exclusive event in Monaco, showcasing a striking China Blue exterior with a red leather interior and matching blue stitching, complemented by a red soft top.
The remaining 19 units, each of which will be individually tailored to the customer’s preferences, promise a unique blend of colors and specifications, ensuring that no two vehicles will look alike. This level of customization and attention to detail underscores the exclusivity of the project. As of now, 17 of the 20 units have already been claimed, highlighting the strong interest in this limited-edition model.
