What is a Limited Edition?
An edition is an original artwork conceived as a limited, numbered series. The starting point of the creation is usually a unique artwork, that often corresponds to a master surface, mould or cast, from which the editions are then reproduced. Editions are compiled in a fixed series of multiple numbers. The edition size is carefully chosen by the artist and producer/editor beforehand, and no more editions can be created afterwards.

The concept of a “limited edition” is vital for collectors to distinguish an authentic numbered print from an offset open edition. Editions are often signed and numbered by the artists - each numbering noted as a fraction of the agreed edition run, thus providing collectors with a guarantee of the work’s authenticity.
