Cap Juluca, A Belmond Hotel, is luring the next generation of luxury travellers to Anguilla

The resort features sophisticated accommodations, an infinity pool, the Arawak Spa, and exclusive beach access with personalized service. Share

From afar, the reimagined Cap Juluca, A Belmond Hotel in Anguilla, dazzles with its strikingly white Moorish-Greco architecture, which contrasts vividly against the backdrop of azure skies, immaculate white sands, and tranquil aquamarine waters. A closer look reveals lush tropical gardens, meticulously trimmed emerald palm trees, bespoke tiled designs, and the warm, welcoming smiles of long-serving staff, all ensuring that the cherished charm of this iconic hotel is preserved—embodying the essence of luxury at its most relaxed.

The extensive $121 million overhaul under the new management has refined the aesthetics and ambience of this elite resort. Both newcomers and repeat guests are captivated by how the resort maintains its core characteristics while integrating modern, high-end enhancements that amplify the luxury experience to unparalleled levels. Following the refurbishments, the mile-long stretch of Maundays Bay beach now presents its white sands in their finest form. Each room and outdoor space at the resort is crafted to offer sophisticated style and an exclusive atmosphere, ensuring that the legendary vistas are enjoyed without compromise.

The property includes 23 stunning villas totalling 108 rooms and suites. Ground-floor accommodations offer direct access to the dunes, while second-floor options provide spectacular ocean and rooftop views. Accommodation options vary from deluxe and premium rooms to one- and two-bedroom suites with or without private pools, up to expansive villas.

The signature Jonquil Suite epitomizes luxury with its private infinity pool, oceanfront Jacuzzi, and dual bathrooms each equipped with a hot tub. Rooms at Cap Juluca are designed as beachside sanctuaries, featuring a neutral colour scheme accented by the vibrant Caribbean Sea, functional and elegant décor including a four-post bed from Restoration Hardware, a queen-sized sofa bed, smart TVs, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system, all contributing to an upscale residential feel.

The Houston-based Rottet Studio has skillfully revamped Cap Juluca while retaining the soul of this legendary resort and infusing it with luxury elements such as an ocean-facing infinity pool and the Arawak Spa.  The ocean view from the spa is instantly soothing, and the treatments, which utilize organic products and local ingredients such as Anguilla salt, are particularly suited for sensitive skin.

Each room is assigned two plush beach lounge chairs shielded by an oversized umbrella. Conveniently, intercom systems linked to these chairs enable guests to request services without having to take their eyes off the ocean scenery. The intricate, handmade tiles that decorate the floors, walls, and ceilings throughout the hotel enhance the beauty of the interiors and add a touch of luxury to the transition from sand to suite.

The resort’s dining venues are overseen by the renowned chef Johnny Clero, who utilizes the on-site greenhouse to enhance dishes and drinks with fresh herbs and vegetables. Maundays Club, adjacent to the infinity pool, offers all-day dining with a special focus on Peruvian tapas in the evenings. Pimms, now stylishly redesigned, presents Caribbean and international dishes with an emphasis on seafood, and Cip’s by Cipriani offers relaxed beach-chic dining throughout the day, featuring a menu and wine list reminiscent of its Venetian counterpart.

Active guests can take advantage of complimentary tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts; ocean-view or beachfront yoga sessions; and non-motorized water sports such as kayaking, tubing, and paddleboarding. The newly updated oceanfront Events Pavilion provides an exquisite setting for celebrations, including weddings and social gatherings. The expansive layout of the resort guarantees plenty of personal space both indoors and outdoors. With all buildings capped at two stories, rooms face the beach, feature large terraces with ocean views, and provide direct access to the sands, ensuring a private and exclusive experience.
