Bentley Motors, through its bespoke Mulliner division, has announced this limited 20-car global collection named the Apex Edition. This new edition extends the visual impact of the Bentayga while elevating its dynamic capabilities. It features robust, lightweight 22” Mulliner carbon wheels paired with carbon ceramic brakes. Each vehicle can be personalized with one of six unique specifications designed by Mulliner’s team, which also includes a never-before-seen central painted livery stripe that extends over the bonnet and roof.
The Bentayga S, the base for the Apex Edition, is already a formidable player in Bentley’s luxury SUV lineup, boasting a 4.0-litre, twin-scroll turbocharged V8 petrol engine. This engine delivers 542 bhp (550 PS) and 568 lb.ft. (770 Nm) of torque, enabling the SUV to achieve 0–100 km/h in approximately 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph). Standard features such as Bentley Dynamic Ride, active anti-roll control, and rear-wheel steering are fitted to enhance its already thrilling performance.
An even more exclusive option is available for Bentley enthusiasts who own a Le Mans Edition Continental GT or GTC. They can specify their Bentayga Apex Edition to feature a Verdant green exterior with a Moonbeam Le Mans style racing stripe, closely matching their existing vehicles. The interior of this edition mirrors the Le Mans Edition GT, with upscale materials and detailing.
The integration of carbon wheels and Carbon-Silicon-Carbide (CSiC) brakes significantly enhances the vehicle’s dynamics, reducing the unsprung mass by 44 kg. This reduction sharpens steering responsiveness and also ensures immensely powerful and consistent braking. The enhanced stiffness of the wheels is so effective that it equates to an improvement of 1° in camber per 1G of lateral force exerted, enhancing handling precision.
The 22” Mulliner carbon wheels on the Apex Edition, specifically developed for the Bentayga in collaboration with Bucci Composites, reduce the unsprung mass by 24 kg while improving several critical aspects of vehicle performance. These wheels offer enhanced steering agility and more responsive braking due to the decreased unsprung mass. They also increase safety; in the event of a high impact, the carbon weave structure allows for gradual air loss, unlike an aluminum rim which may deflate instantly. Additionally, the stiffer carbon rims minimize bending, thereby stabilizing the tire contact patch and reducing tire wear.
The interior themes offered by Mulliner for the Apex Edition vary widely, from the striking Candy Red satin exterior with Anthracite and Arctic White stripes to the bold Orange Flame with tonal satin stripe. Each theme is carefully designed to reflect individual style preferences, with luxurious interiors featuring combinations of premium hides, contrast stitching, and satin carbon fibre accents.
Additional personalized touches include Apex Edition embroidery, carbon fibre treadplates, and bespoke exterior badges, ensuring that each vehicle is unmistakably unique. An exclusive release limited to only 20 units globally, Mulliner invites its clients to use the pre-designed themes as inspiration to further personalize their vehicles through a co-creation process with Mulliner’s designers, making each Bentayga a truly one-of-a-kind expression of personal luxury and style.
