Regent Santa Monica Beach: A timeless sanctuary, nurturing a legacy that spans generations

Discover a new kind of luxury at Regent Santa Monica Beach, an alluring oceanfront resort that fuses vibrant uplifted experiences with the magnetic charm of sand and surf. Share

Regent Santa Monica Beach is poised to open this summer, perfectly situated on a desirable stretch of Santa Monica’s beach. This exciting new addition to the Regent Hotels & Resorts lineup will feature a restaurant by renowned chef Michael Mina, a café and boutique curated by celebrity entrepreneur Ayesha Curry, a luxurious 10,000-square-foot Guerlain Wellness Spa, an inviting oceanfront pool deck, and an attentive beach butler service.

Regent Hotels & Resorts first emerged in Hawaii in 1970, and after its acquisition by IHG Hotels & Resorts in 2018, the brand has been rejuvenated as a modern upper-tier luxury brand. This revitalization has led to the introduction of new properties like Regent Phu Quoc in Vietnam and updates to established properties like Regent Hong Kong and Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel. The Santa Monica establishment is set to be the flagship property for the brand in the Americas.

Regent Santa Monica Beach will take over the space formerly occupied by Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel. With an investment exceeding $150 million, the project marries Beverly Hills elegance with the tranquillity of a beachfront setting, under the design direction of AvroKO and Wimberly Interiors—firms renowned for their work on properties such as The Jay Hotel in San Francisco and Rosewood Baha Mar in the Bahamas. The result is an airy, light-infused lobby and rooms decorated in soothing cream and blue tones.

The hotel will offer 167 well-appointed accommodations, comprising 24 suites and 143 guest rooms. Each room will start at 720 square feet, featuring luxurious bathrooms equipped with soaking tubs, rainfall showers, bidets, and double vanities. Guests can enjoy expansive views from the 2,180-square-foot two-story Atrium Suites, situated on the second and third floors, or opt for the largest accommodation, the Santa Monica Presidential Suite on the eighth floor, which includes a game room, living room, and four Juliet balconies.

Regent’s innovative approach to hospitality is carried forward in its reimagined version under IHG, maintaining a commitment to personalized luxury. This includes the creation of “personal havens” within the hotel—spaces thoughtfully designed for relaxation and comfort.

Dining at the hotel will be highlighted by the Mediterranean-inspired Orla, a concept by Chef Michael Mina that mirrors the rich culinary traditions of his childhood with ingredients like za’atar, citrus, and charcoal-grilled meats. This restaurant, coupled with the vibrant atmosphere and oceanfront views, promises a captivating dining experience. Ayesha Curry will bring her lifestyle brand, Sweet July, to the hotel. The Santa Monica iteration of her boutique/café will emphasize products from Black- and women-owned businesses and feature a menu that pays homage to her Jamaican roots with items such as Sweet July’s signature coffee, tea, pastries, and desserts.

Regent’s expansion continues with plans to open new hotels in locations such as Bali, Jeddah, Kuala Lumpur, Kyoto, Sanya, Shenzhen, and Jakarta over the next five years. As the first Regent destination in the Americas since the brand’s relaunch, Regent Santa Monica Beach is set to redefine luxury in the Los Angeles area, offering a new level of upscale accommodation and service that integrates seamlessly with the vibrant local culture of Santa Monica.
