Venice, Italy, a city steeped in history and romance, is set to welcome a new chapter in its luxury hospitality narrative with the opening of Rosewood Hotel Bauer in 2025. This iconic hotel, managed by Rosewood Hotels & Resorts and owned by real estate developer SIGNA Prime Selection, is nestled in the historic San Marco district, bridging the Grand Canal and Piazza San Marco. Rosewood’s commitment to strategic global growth is exemplified by this addition, which notably extends its esteemed European portfolio.

Originally constructed in 1880, Hotel Bauer is undergoing a comprehensive renovation spearheaded by Venice-based architect Alberto Torsello and the renowned interior design group, BAR Studio. The restoration aims to meticulously preserve and integrate many of the hotel’s historic elements, including the original façade, grand winding staircase, and other interior elements that contribute to the property’s rich past. This renovation, placing a significant emphasis on sustainability, aims to achieve three sustainability certificates: the Green Pass, Klima Haus, and LEED Gold.

The Rosewood Hotel Bauer will feature over 110 rooms, with more than half being suites, including several signature suites and a presidential suite. The property’s world-class dining options will include a bistro-style restaurant and bar on the ground floor and a fine-dining restaurant and bar with a rooftop terrace. The hotel will also boast a spectacular rooftop event garden, offering breathtaking views of Venice, a luxurious wellness facility, and an outdoor pool with a bar on the eighth floor. A luxury retail space spanning over 32,200 sq. ft. will also be integrated, located directly on the lively Campo San Moisé square, near Piazza San Marco.

“Rosewood is considered one of the world’s most reputable hotel operators and the new Rosewood Hotel Bauer, directly on the Grand Canal, represents an extraordinary project that is to be completed over the coming three years,” say Heinz Peter Hager, President of SIGNA Italia. “This modern ultra-luxury hotel–in combination with first-class restaurants and an impressive rooftop garden–is set to become Venice’s new center of attraction.”
