In 2019, three generations of the Scheufele family masterfully reimagined the St. Moritz, Chopard’s inaugural timepiece from the late 1970s, into the contemporary Alpine Eagle collection. Today, this line scales new heights with the Alpine Eagle Summit series, a tribute to its legacy and the rugged beauty of nature.
The Summit series captivates with its dial and bezel combinations, where ethical gold meets a gradient of gemstones. The collection features four variations: yellow gold with pink sapphires, white gold with blue and purple sapphires, white gold with tsavorites, and rose gold with spessartites. Each dial, named after the mesmerizing hues of the Alpine landscape, showcases colours like “Golden Peak,” “Zinal Blue,” “Vals Grey,” and “Pink Dawn,” achieved through a precise PVD treatment on brass dials. The bezels shine with baguette-cut gemstones, adding a stunning colour gradation.
The “Zinal Blue” variant is especially striking, named after the Swiss Alps’ Zinal Glacier. Its dial exhibits an eagle-eye radiating pattern that beautifully transitions between shades of blue and purple, reminiscent of the glacier’s shimmering reflections. These timepieces, in line with all Chopard creations since July 2018, utilize 18-carat gold sourced from ethical standards. Chopard’s in-house foundry ensures control over its value chain, reflecting their commitment to environmental responsibility.
The heart of these watches, the COSC-Certified Chopard 01.15-C movement, is visible through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback. This movement boasts a 60-hour power reserve and a stop-seconds function, underlining Chopard’s dedication to precision and excellence.
While these watches could grace any outdoor adventure, their design leans towards a more glamorous interpretation of the Alpine Eagle’s sports-watch lineage. The Summit collection celebrates the grandeur of the environment that inspires each piece, whether on the wrist of a mountain explorer or a simple nature enthusiast.
Debuted at Dubai Watch Week 2023, the Chopard Alpine Eagle Summit collection marks a lavish addition to Chopard’s integrated sport watch line. Available in a 41mm wide, 9.7mm thick case (with 100 m water resistance), the collection presents four variants: yellow gold with a “Golden Peak” dial, rose gold with a “Pink Dawn” dial, and white gold in “Vals Grey” and “Zinal Blue” dials. Each model houses the COSC-certified Chopard 01.15-C movement with a 60-hour power reserve, showcased in ethical gold.
The “Zinal Blue” dial features a PVD treatment that employs specific gas mixtures and exposure times to achieve its vibrant colour shifts. This technique, along with the textured Alpine Eagle dial, creates a stunning visual effect. The other dials in the collection also draw inspiration from nature: “Golden Peak” from the Swiss Alps’ mountain, “Vals Grey” from the quartzite stone used in Vals village architecture, and “Pink Dawn” from the early morning sunlight over the mountains.
The Chopard Alpine Eagle Summit “Pink Dawn” in rose gold is priced at $77,600, while the “Golden Peak,” “Vals Grey,” and “Zinal Blue” models in yellow and white gold are priced at $85,400. These exclusive timepieces will be available only at Chopard boutiques.
