Laurent Ferrier Classic Moon

The watches showcase exquisite craftsmanship, including hand-finished details and a new caliber, LF126.02, which offers an 80-hour power reserve. Share

After clinching the GPHG award with the Grand Sport Tourbillon Pursuit, which drew inspiration from the early morning hues, Laurent Ferrier reverts to its cherished Classical origins. Venturing once more into celestial explorations, the brand elevates its ambitions with the launch of the new Classic Moon.

The Laurent Ferrier workshop has unveiled two exquisite versions of their Classic collection. Each model includes an Annual Calendar, alongside the brand’s inaugural moon phase feature. Named the Annual Calendar Moon Phase, it is neatly encased within the artistic contours that were honoured with the Best Men’s Watch title by the GPHG in 2010, the year the company made its debut, marking a perfect frame for its premier lunar feature.

The Classic case carries the unmistakable Laurent Ferrier aesthetic with each contour echoing a pebble’s smoothness, available in either polished stainless steel or 18-carat red gold. By presenting two compatible versions in red gold and steel, the watchmaker introduces a fresh interpretation of the classical design motifs that define the brand.  Both models feature a harmoniously sized 40-mm case with elegantly curved lugs that ensure a comfortable, ergonomic fit on the wrist. This design is typical of the Laurent Ferrier aesthetic, featuring a softly rounded bezel and the tactile satisfaction of adjusting the watch via the spherical crown.

The Annual Calendar Moon Phase sports a sapphire case back providing a broad view of the new LF126.02 calibre, along with the Olivette located on the case back bezel at 6 o’clock, making the movement more accessible for the watchmaker. The smoothly rounded spherical crown is used for winding and setting the date and time. A neatly integrated corrector at 10 o’clock adjusts the day, while another corrector positioned between 8 and 9 o’clock sets the moon phase feature, showcasing a mysterious design in Aventurine glass.

The Classic Moon incorporates an annual calendar and a moon phase, radiating classical elegance through its carefully designed dial. The subtle vertical brushing on the dial plays with light to create a refined aesthetic, enriched with a multitude of displays. Surrounding the elegant Roman numerals and baton markers is a chemin de fer minute track in a deep petrol blue, with the date numerals in a traditional typeface. The 31st is highlighted in a vibrant cherry red, complementing the central date pointer.

Positioned just below the 12 o’clock mark are two beveled windows displaying the weekday on the left and the month on the right. The hour and minute hands are slender, ruthenium-treated white gold, shaped like Assegai spears. A new eye-catching feature in blue awaits attention at six o’clock. Here, aficionados will notice an enlarged small-second display that now incorporates the brand’s first moon phase feature, showcasing a detailed Aventurine glass and translucent enamel design. This version is matched with a brown calf leather strap lined with Alcantara.

Similarly, the blue dial version exudes sophisticated refinement. Its monochrome dial adds a contemporary flair to the traditional design, offering a bold yet subtle take on the annual calendar moon phase model. Encased in stainless steel, the tonal grey-blue dial with an opaline finish offers a modern aesthetic contrasted sharply against the white Roman numerals. The encircling date numerals appear in a soft pastel blue, with the 31st presented in a striking azure that aligns with the central date pointer. The slender, white-lacquered white gold hour and seconds hands enhance the dial’s sleek appearance.

At six o’clock, the new moon phase feature is prominently displayed in captivating Aventurine glass, set against a recessed grey-blue opaline circle with powder-grey markers, providing a subtle contrast. The deep blue moon phase display underscores the refined elegance that distinguishes each Laurent Ferrier creation. This model comes with a hand-sewn dark grey Nubuck strap lined with soft Alcantara.
