Rolex Oyster and Oysterflex Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona

Featuring mother-of-pearl dials and available in white gold with either an Oyster or Oysterflex bracelet, the watches balance luxurious design with subtlety. Share

The new models in the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona collection feature diamond-set designs with mother-of-pearl dials. Normally, the idea of a Rolex covered in diamonds evokes images of significant extravagance, yet these new watches manage a remarkable balance between lavishness and subtlety. One style is entirely crafted in white gold and boasts a black mother-of-pearl dial with matching sub-dials and diamond hour markers, all set on a white gold Oyster bracelet. This model appeals to those who appreciate luxury displayed in a relaxed and understated manner.

The second style features a white mother-of-pearl dial complemented by black mother-of-pearl sub-dials and diamond-set indices, paired with an Oysterflex bracelet. This bracelet, complete with a white gold folding clasp and the Rolex Glidelock extension system, adds a sporty contrast to the otherwise refined dial, offering a unique blend of style elements.

Both versions of the Rolex Daytona watches are adorned with a bezel set with 36 brilliant-cut diamonds, enhancing the luxurious feel that Rolex enthusiasts appreciate. The mother-of-pearl dial is further highlighted by eight diamonds and three Chromalight hour markers to ensure visibility in low light conditions. The 40mm Oyster case, made from 18 ct white gold, supports a sophisticated yet surprisingly subtle backdrop to the intricate details above.

These watches are powered by Rolex’s calibre 4131, an in-house self-winding mechanical chronograph movement with a 72-hour power reserve. This caliber includes features such as 100 meters of water resistance, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, a Chronergy escapement, Paraflex shock absorbers, and optimized ball bearings. The movement’s bridges are adorned with Rolex’s Côtes de Genève, and a skeletonized oscillating weight adds an exquisite touch.

While “gem-set Daytona” often suggests overly ornate timepieces, these new iterations from Rolex offer a refreshing take with their more understated diamond use. Rolex has been known for producing eye-catching models like the Rainbow and the Eye of the Tiger, which usually steal the show, making it particularly refreshing to see these new, more refined Rolex Cosmograph Daytona watches receiving their share of the spotlight. Both models are available for purchase at select Rolex retailers.
