Renowned Swiss Haute Horlogerie maestro, Audemars Piguet, gracefully unveils two resplendent limited editions of the 39 mm Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin. The first, an 18-carat white gold marvel, is meticulously encrusted with 1,528 scintillating brilliant-cut diamonds. Its counterpart, bathed in 18-carat yellow gold, is graced by vibrant brilliant-cut yellow sapphires. Each is powered by the avant-garde self-winding Calibre 7121 – a testament to the manufacturer’s latest horological advancements, which debuted in the year marking the Royal Oak’s golden jubilee.

The ethereal beauty of the white gold timepiece captures the essence of opulence with 1,528 diamonds, a total of approximately 8.3 carats, lavishing the case, bezel, dial, and bracelet. The 18-carat yellow gold variant shares this exuberant gem-setting technique, but opts for a brilliant array of yellow sapphires, amassing to approximately 10.4 carats.

The manufacturer’s master artisans employed only the brilliant-cut stones, ensuring impeccable radiance and uniformity. Coined as “a river” in haute jewellery, the gemstones flow gracefully, selected and fashioned with unparalleled expertise to fulfil Audemars Piguet’s stringent criteria on purity, cut, and hue. The stones’ luminance is accentuated further by mirror-polished chamfers that trace the bezel, case, and bracelet links.

Both timepieces present dials that are a play of shimmer and colour. A total of 422 gemstones mirror the gleam of the gold bezel, hour-markers, and hands, creating a symphony of light. Ensuring clarity and elegance, the “Audemars Piguet” insignia and iconic AP monogram are subtly etched onto the sapphire crystal. Thoughtful touches, like the harmoniously toned background of the date window and the 22-carat pink gold oscillating weight, either in rhodium or plated with yellow gold, complement the dial’s allure.

Driving these luxurious timepieces is the Calibre 7121. Beyond showing hours, minutes, and date, this mechanism is a tribute to Audemars Piguet’s dedication to precision. Tailored to fit the slender profile of the “Jumbo”, it doesn’t compromise its sophistication. With a thickness of just 3.2 mm, the development of this movement spanned five years. It outpaces its predecessor, Calibre 2121, in energy efficiency due to its amplified barrel, promising heightened accuracy.

As is customary with Haute Horlogerie, the Calibre 7121 is adorned with the signature Côtes de Genève, traits tirés, and circular satin finishing, all of which can be admired through the transparent sapphire caseback. These majestic editions of the Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin, a testament to Audemars Piguet’s exquisite craftsmanship, await connoisseurs exclusively at Audemars Piguet boutiques.
