Unveiling a one-of-one bespoke motor car that captures the enchanting allure and fascinating viticultural heritage of the fabled Italian Riviera. Share

Elegantly poised between a historical homage and contemporary craftsmanship, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars unveils the one-of-a-kind Phantom ‘Inspired by Cinque Terre’, a vehicular masterpiece celebrating the bewitching charm and esteemed viticultural traditions of Italy’s famed Riviera. The Cinque Terre, or ‘Five Lands’, is a mosaic of five quaint fishing villages—Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore—perched gracefully along the rugged coast of Liguria in northern Italy.

These villages are international treasures, renowned for their steeply terraced vineyards that cascade down to the edge of the Mediterranean, offering a sublime testament to the enduring dance between nature’s bounty and human endeavour. The region stands as a beacon of winemaking excellence, its landscape a canvas of verdant vines and azure waters.

In honour of this enchanting locale, the bespoke Rolls-Royce Phantom is imbued with a myriad of handcrafted features, each a tribute to the essence of Cinque Terre. The car’s exterior is draped in a deep, rich Ligurian blue, evoking the tranquil waters of the Riviera. This is further accentuated by a meticulously hand-applied double coachline in Navy Blue and Jasmine, culminating in a delicate grapes motif, a nod to the region’s esteemed viticultural legacy.

Inside the luxurious cabin, a symphony of Grace White and Navy Blue leather, accented with subtle Jasmine highlights, envelops the occupants in opulence. The rear doors are adorned with delicate grape-branch embroidery, a tapestry of 9,215 carefully orchestrated stitches. The grapes, realised in satin stitch, shimmer in the light, their lustrous quality achieved by meticulously aligning the threads, while the contrasting tatami stitch used for the grape leaves offers a delightful textural interplay.

The artistic journey continues with the car’s bespoke picnic tables, featuring intricate inlays of the grapes motif crafted in stainless steel and gold plating. The surfaces are first painted in a sparkling Milori blue, then sealed with a clear lacquer, and finally hand-polished to a mirror-like finish, reflecting the vibrant spirit of Cinque Terre.

Above, the Bespoke Starlight Headliner steals the scene with an intricately embroidered map of Italy, where five gently glowing stars are positioned to represent the historic villages of Cinque Terre. This feature is a testament to the meticulous attention to detail by the Bespoke Collective, as it took numerous iterations to determine the optimum line weight for the embroidery, ensuring the perfect balance between delicacy and shimmer.

The Gallery, a focal point within the Phantom’s expansive fascia, houses a specially commissioned artwork that captures the vibrancy, architectural elegance, and unique character of Cinque Terre. The composition, representing an amalgamation of elements from all five cliffside villages, was conceived through digital sketches before being airbrushed by hand using water-based acrylic paint. Multiple coats of clear lacquer were then applied to preserve the exquisite details of the painting, allowing the occupants to immerse themselves in the visual poetry of Cinque Terre.

A final touch of elegance is found inside the glove compartment, which cradles a silver debossed depiction of the five iconic villages, a discreet yet poignant reminder of the region’s charm.
