Bentley’s S Black Edition is the most striking Bentley SUV to date

Bentley Motors recently unveiled its latest innovation in luxury SUVs: the Bentayga S Black Edition. This model stands out as the company’s most visually arresting SUV yet, marked by the pioneering use of black-tinted wings—a design choice not seen on a Bentley in the last 105 years. The S Black Edition is a blend of bold accent colours against a backdrop of rich black detailing, applied meticulously to both the vehicle’s exterior and interior, offering a fresh, dynamic take on luxury design.

The seven accent colour specifications for the Bentayga S Black Edition allows for a personalised touch that Bentley customers can enjoy. These colours include Mandarin, Signal Yellow, Klein Blue, Pillar Box Red, Ice, Hyper Green, and Beluga. Each colour has been chosen for its ability to draw attention while maintaining a cohesive look with the vehicle’s overall design. These colours create a striking contrast against the stealthy black treatments found across various parts of the car.

Exterior design enhancements on the S Black Edition include a laser-like stripe adorning the Styling Specification body kit below the front bumper, along the side sills, and across the top of the rear spoiler. The brake callipers, painted to match the accent colours, peek out from behind the 22-inch black-painted wheels, adding a splash of colour. In a historic first for Bentley, all exterior brightware has been replaced with gloss black versions, including the iconic Bentley Wings and lettering. This transformation is capped off with a Black Edition badge, prominently placed on the rear D pillar.

Internally, the Bentayga S Black Edition features a unique colour scheme that elegantly contrasts rich Beluga leather with vibrant accents of colour corresponding to the exterior. This scheme extends into the handcrafted cabin, where contrast stitching, contrast piping, and accent-coloured sections of the leather trim harmonise to replicate the exterior’s dynamic effect. Each seat proudly bears a black ‘S’ emblem, embroidered as a mark of distinction.

A new carbon fibre weave has been introduced for the fascia, centre console, and waistrails, adding a depth of visual texture. This detail provides a fitting backdrop for the Black Edition badge, which is inlaid beneath the surface and covered with lacquer to maintain a sleek, flush finish. Standard on this model is the Dark Chrome pack, which replaces the usual bright chrome details—such as the bullseye air vents and their organ stop controls, and the centre vents—with gloss black counterparts, further enhancing the cabin’s luxurious ambience.

Under the hood, the Bentayga S Black Edition is powered by a formidable 4.0-litre, twin-scroll turbocharged V8 petrol engine. This powertrain is capable of producing 542 bhp (550 PS) and 568 lb.ft. (770 Nm) of torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 mph. The vehicle’s performance is further refined by the Bentley Dynamic Ride system, the world’s first electric active roll control technology that utilizes a 48V system to provide unparalleled cabin stability, ride comfort, and handling precision. An enhanced SPORT mode further sharpens the driving dynamics through increased air suspension damping and a unique Electronic Stability Control and Bentley Dynamic Ride tune.

In addition to its petrol-powered variant, the Bentayga S Black Edition is available with a 456 bhp hybrid powertrain. This alternative combines a 3.0-litre TFSI V6 petrol engine with a 100 kW electric motor-generator, offering a blend of sporty performance and environmental consideration. The hybrid model accelerates from zero to 62 mph in 5.3 seconds and can reach a top speed of 158 mph, all while delivering the sensation of effortless power, enhanced by the electric motor’s instant torque delivery.
