In the realm of luxury sports cars, the arrival of the new McLaren GTS in 2024 marks a significant milestone. This latest addition to the McLaren lineup elevates the brand to new heights of engineering and design sophistication. The GTS embodies a perfect amalgamation of McLaren’s core principles: exceptional design aesthetics, a leading power-to-weight ratio owing to its carbon fiber construction, and unparalleled driving dynamics.

Visually, the GTS asserts a more commanding presence than its predecessor. The front of the car has been reimagined with a new lower bumper section, incorporating sculpted air intakes for improved airflow. Optional gloss visual carbon fibre elements add to its racing pedigree and enhance its aggressive stance. The rear fenders are adorned with new, taller air scoops, also available in gloss visual carbon fibre, contributing to the efficient cooling of its robust 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

The GTS’s muscular appearance is complemented by a large rear diffuser and dual exhausts, which are part of an optional Sports Exhaust system delivering a supercar soundtrack. The standard gloss black finish on the exhaust finisher, mirror caps, and window surrounds gives the GTS a sleek, stealthy look. The new GTS badging, along with visual carbon fibre options for the underbody, further accentuates its dynamic exterior.

At the core of the GTS’s design is the carbon fibre MonoCell II-T monocoque chassis, known for its strong, ultra-lightweight construction. The standard composite roof, made from recycled carbon fibre, is one of many weight-saving solutions that enhance the vehicle’s performance and dynamics. These design choices are instrumental in delivering an exhilarating lightweight supercar driving experience.

The GTS, weighing just 1,520kg, stands as the lightest car in its class, boasting an unrivalled power-to-weight ratio of 418PS per tonne. Its V8 M840TE 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine now delivers 635PS at 7,500rpm, with the additional 15PS resulting from increased crankshaft torque. This power allows the GTS to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.2 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 326km/h.

The vehicle features a seven-speed SSG transmission, ensuring smooth and seamless shifts. The Active Dynamics Panel offers two additional driving modes—Sport and Track—enhancing the supercar experience with faster and more aggressive gearshifts.

Inside, the GTS offers a refined and luxurious space, balancing performance with comfort. The cabin features a mix of high-quality materials, including Nappa leather seats, machine-polished aluminum switches, and optional visual carbon fibre elements. The new Performance and TechLux interior schemes introduce refreshed designs with sophisticated color highlights. Unique to the GTS are the tuning of the electro-hydraulic steering system, the adaptive damping suspension, and the carbon ceramic braking system. These elements optimize the mid-engine placement and the car’s lightweight build for a balanced and agile driving experience.

The GTS’s steering system offers unmatched feedback and precision, automatically adjusting its level of assistance for ease of use during low-speed maneuvers. The braking system, with its 390mm and 380mm carbon ceramic discs, ensures outstanding performance and stopping power. The McLaren GTS shines in urban environments with excellent visibility and a large glass tailgate for superior rearward vision. The vehicle lift function, enhanced over the GT’s system, allows for rapid adjustment of the car’s ground clearance.

The digital instrument display and central touchscreen infotainment system provide a user-friendly interface, while the Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system adds to the cabin’s luxury ambiance. The GTS’s practicality extends to its cargo space, with a total capacity of 570 liters, making it one of the most practical supercars available. The exterior color palette includes new options like Mantis Green, Tanzanite Blue, Ice White, and the exclusive Lava Grey.

Rounding out its impressive features are new wheel designs and optional titanium locking wheel bolts, reducing unsprung mass. Pirelli P ZERO tyres, specially developed for the GTS, offer high performance and grip. The McLaren GTS comes with a comprehensive warranty package and is eligible for the McLaren Extended Warranty. It also includes three years of vehicle servicing under the McLaren Service Plan.
