From the start, Button collaborated closely with the Lotus Design team to create an Evija that honors his 2009 F1 World Championship-winning Brawn GP race car. The resulting car boasts an Arctic White body, accented by Verve Yellow and Carbon Black details. Button’s race number ’22’ from his standout season also features prominently on the deployable door mirror housing and is replicated on the interior door lining.

Button praised the Lotus team for their meticulous attention to detail. For instance, an aluminum strip runs through the seat center, laser-etched with the date and location of all 15 of Button’s F1 wins between 2006 and 2012. The interior is just as impressive, adorned with white and black perforated leather seats, an ebony Alcantara headliner, and a steering wheel—all highlighted by Lime Yellow contrast stitching.

While the design pays tribute to history, the powertrain is decidedly futuristic. The specs are astounding, with a power output of 1,500 kW or 2,039 PS, making the Lotus Evija the most powerful series production road car to date. Simon Lane, Director of Lotus Advanced Performance, summed up the importance of this unveiling as a momentous achievement for the team: “It’s a fantastic moment for the whole team, which has worked so hard to bring Jenson’s vision to life.”
