The redevelopment of Battersea Power Station, incorporating Battersea Roof Gardens by Foster + Partners and Prospect Place by Gehry Partners marked a significant transformation in London’s architectural landscape in 2023. This mixed-use neighbourhood, rich in history and innovation, offers a new standard of luxury living alongside vibrant retail and cultural spaces.

Prospect Place, the residential development and heart of Battersea Roof Gardens by Foster + Partners flaunt a contemporary design, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows that invite natural light into spacious interiors. The development offers two distinct interior palettes, inspired by the Power Station’s historical architecture, providing options for a light, airy ambience or a richer, warmer aesthetic.

A significant highlight is the 29,000-square-foot rooftop garden, crafted by James Corner of Field Operations and LDA Design. This expansive green space hosts 23,000 plants and 55 trees, creating an urban parkland oasis for residents. Grant Brooker, Head of Studio at Foster + Partners, envisioned these gardens as a multifunctional social space, offering residents spectacular views and a serene environment to engage in activities or simply relax amidst nature.

Prospect Place by Gehry Partners introduces a playful, innovative design to the Battersea Power Station development. With its first residences designed in the UK by renowned architects, the property features unique exterior winter garden pods and bespoke interior palettes that reflect the sunny disposition of California or a contemporary urban feel.

The rough-sawn oak veneer cabinetry in the kitchens, inspired by the architectural heritage of Los Angeles and the creative spirit of Frank Gehry’s studio, is particularly noteworthy. These kitchens blend functionality with artistic flair, featuring honed Silestone worktops, polished chrome Hansgrohe mixers, and high-quality Siemens appliances, reflecting the development’s commitment to luxury and innovation.

Beyond the residences, Battersea Power Station is set to become London’s newest ‘it’ destination. The development includes Electric Boulevard, a pedestrianised high street that connects the new underground station with the iconic Power Station, offering an array of shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants. The art’otel, part of the Battersea Roof Gardens development, further enriches the neighbourhood with its rooftop garden, cocktail bar, and infinity pool, providing guests and residents alike with exclusive amenities.

The project pays homage to the site’s industrial heritage, seamlessly integrating the Grade II* listed Power Station into a modern urban fabric. With the introduction of a new Zone 1 underground station, residents and visitors will enjoy unparalleled access to London’s key destinations, making Battersea Power Station a prime location for an enriched lifestyle.
