Minor Hotels has revealed plans to expand its Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas portfolio with a new addition in Vienna. Set to open in March 2024, the Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel is part of the group’s strategic growth across Europe. Located in Schottenring, on Vienna’s Ring Boulevard, the hotel is housed in a historic palace, built in 1873 by Theophil Hansen for the Vienna World’s Exhibition.

Initially serving as municipal offices and cultural venues, the building was converted into a luxury hotel in 2013, currently known as Palais Hansen Kempinski. It is positioned near many of Vienna’s cultural and artistic attractions and has convenient public transport links to the rest of the city.

The Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel will feature 152 guestrooms and suites, including a spacious 2,906-square-foot Presidential Suite. Guests will have various dining options, including a Michelin-starred restaurant, the Wintergarten for regional cuisine, a Lobby Lounge & Bar, and a Cigar Lounge. The hotel also offers extensive meeting and event facilities, with ten function rooms and a ballroom capable of hosting up to 265 people for events such as gala dinners, weddings, and conferences. Leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, fitness center, and spa.

A significant renovation is planned for the hotel, introducing Anantara’s signature experiences and hallmarks. Starting in late 2024 and continuing into 2025, the refurbishment will encompass the guestrooms, suites, lobby, meeting spaces, restaurants, and bars. The existing spa will be upgraded and relaunched as an Anantara Spa, blending European and Asian wellness traditions.

“We are thrilled to be bringing the Anantara brand to Vienna, the undisputed cultural centre of Austria and one of the world capitals of music. Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel will offer an unparalleled experience of luxury, elegance and hospitality in the heart of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities,” says Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO, Minor International & CEO, Minor Hotels.
