Meet the Brabus Rocket 900 ‘One of Ten’: A limited-edition powerhouse

Limited to just ten units, the powerhouse boasts an increased-displacement engine churning out 900 hp and a mind-boggling top speed of 330 km/h. Share

The Brabus brand, with over four decades of experience in building high-performance supercars based on Mercedes-Benz vehicles, extends its tradition of engineering excellence with the Brabus Rocket 900 “One of Ten.” This limited edition of ten vehicles, crafted in the exclusive Brabus Manufaktur in Bottrop, carries the brand’s Masterpiece label with pride.

The centrepiece of this automobile marvel is the Brabus Rocket 900 Biturbo V8 engine. With its displacement increased to 4.5 liters and an upgraded high-performance forced-induction system, this beast delivers a peak output of 900 horsepower. The engine generates a peak torque of 1,250 Nm (922 lb-ft), which is restricted in the vehicle to 1,050 Nm (774 lb-ft) to safeguard the transmission.

This powerhouse, coupled with the Speedshift MCT 9-speed sports transmission and all-wheel drive, catapults the four-seater coupe from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a mere 2.8 seconds. The car achieves the 300 km/h (186 mph) mark in just 23.9 seconds. However, due to the limitations posed by the tires, the top speed is electronically restrained to 330 km/h (205 mph).

The Brabus Rocket 900 “One of Ten” stands on Monoblock Z wheels, measuring 21″ at the front and 22″ at the rear, ensuring optimal power transfer from the new Brabus increased-displacement engine. The high-performance tires are courtesy of Pirelli, the brand’s technology partner. To accommodate these tires, the Brabus design team developed a carbon widebody with captivating styling. The aerodynamic-enhancement components were fine-tuned in the wind tunnel, yielding improved downforce and enhanced handling stability at high speeds.

The exterior of the Brabus Rocket 900 “One of Ten” screams extravagance with its lightweight carbon body. The widened front fenders incorporate sweeping flares, while the rear axle sees carbon flares adding 7.8 centimeters (3.1 inches) to the overall width of the GT. The aerodynamics are significantly enhanced by the new carbon front fascia, which offers larger air intakes for engine and front brake cooling. The spoiler integrated into this front-end component has been designed to further reduce front-axle lift.

The aerodynamic balance is meticulously achieved with a multi-piece carbon rear wing and a rear diffuser crafted from the same high-tech compound. Sporty accents on the body include naked carbon panels at the sides of the rear bumper and carbon covers for the side mirrors.

Ensuring optimal traction, the wide high-performance tires complement the 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system. Brabus suspension engineers developed special, extra-large versions of the Brabus Monoblock Z wheels using a high-tech forging process. The wheels feature aero discs made from naked carbon, adding a touch of sportiness to their aesthetics.

The Brabus Rocket 900 “One of Ten” is powered by a Brabus Rocket 900 Biturbo V8 increased-displacement engine. To enhance the displacement, a special precision-balanced billet crankshaft is employed, alongside special billet piston rods and larger forged pistons. Additionally, the engine features two Brabus high-performance turbochargers, which push the maximum boost pressure to 1.4 bar.

For ensuring a steady flow of air to the engine, the vehicle sports an integrated carbon ram-air intake system on both sides of the radiator grille. The exhaust system employs a Brabus stainless-steel high-performance quad exhaust system with free-flow metal catalysts and exhaust flaps for an electronically controlled sound management system.

A recalibrated electronic engine control unit complements the new hardware, with newly programmed injection, ignition, and boost pressure control mapping. This results in an optimal power delivery while complying with the stringent EURO 6D ISC-FCM emissions standard. The vehicle’s power is transmitted to all four wheels by the 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system, in conjunction with a Speedshift MCT 9-speed sports transmission, making the Brabus Rocket 900 “One of Ten” one of the world’s most powerful four-seat all-wheel-drive coupes.

The first of the “One of Ten” limited edition units flaunts a special “Stealth Grey” paint finish, extending into the Masterpiece interior, where the upholstery is carefully tailored to the owner’s preferences. This interior showcases the fusion of fine royal black leather and Alcantara, accented with grey decorative stitching and a quilted “Crest” coat of arms pattern.

The vehicle houses 215 parts, ranging from switches to bezels, coated to match the vehicle color. Carbon elements with high-gloss sealer, stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit Brabus logo, and Brabus aluminum door pins and pedals add to the refined and sporty ambiance of the interior. The “One of Ten” plaque on the dashboard is a constant reminder of the exclusivity of this masterpiece.
