The unveiling of the McLaren Artura Spider introduces a pioneering chapter in the realm of high-performance hybrid supercars. This innovative convertible version of the Artura expands McLaren’s esteemed supercar portfolio, setting new benchmarks in terms of power, performance, and the sheer exhilaration of open-top driving.

The Artura Spider, alongside its coupe counterpart, has been designated as a 2025 model year vehicle, embodying significant advancements over the original Artura that elevate the driving experience to unparalleled heights. Both variants are now available for order, with deliveries slated to begin in mid-2024, depending on the region.

Central to the Artura Spider’s appeal is its advanced 3.0-litre V6 engine complemented by an electric motor, collectively delivering an astonishing 700PS (690bhp). This output is remarkable, achieving an efficiency of over 200PS per litre. Such potent power, combined with the Artura Spider’s status as the lightest convertible supercar in its class—outclassing rivals by as much as 83kg—enables it to offer thrilling performance.

The vehicle boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 480PS/tonne at its lightest dry weight of 1,457kg, facilitating rapid acceleration and high speeds: 0-100km/h in 3.0 seconds, 0-200km/h in 8.4 seconds, and 0-300km/h in 21.6 seconds, with a top speed capped at 330km/h (205mph).

The Artura Spider’s technological enhancements extend beyond its powertrain. The vehicle features a revised transmission calibration for 25% faster gearshifts, a new powertrain mount design for augmented dynamic agility, and an improved Proactive Damping Control suspension system, with response rates upped by as much as 90%. The braking system has also been refined to offer greater power and consistency at high speeds, supported by new cooling ducts for enhanced thermal management.

The interior of the Artura Spider is equipped with state-of-the-art features, including an HD touchscreen infotainment system that supports advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as Blindspot Monitoring, Cross-Traffic Detection, Lane Departure Warning, and Road Sign Recognition. The introduction of new exterior paint options and ‘Stealth’ black badging adds to the vehicle’s aesthetic allure, complemented by a comprehensive warranty package that underscores McLaren’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

A distinctive feature of the Artura Spider is its retractable hard-top, which can be deployed electrically in just 11 seconds, allowing drivers to swiftly switch between a coupe and convertible experience. This feature, alongside the optional electrochromic roof panel, further distinguishes the Artura Spider within the supercar domain. The vehicle also excels in aerothermal efficiency, thanks to its meticulously designed cooling system, making it the most fuel-efficient McLaren convertible to date, with an electric range of 33km.
