Russian Antique Salon
The Russian Antique Salon, established in 1996, is a significant annual event in Moscow, known as the country's largest antiques fair. Over the years, it has hosted over 7,000 galleries and private collections, drawing more than 1.5 million visitors. The Salon takes place at the Gostiny Dvor exposition center, encompassing 82,000 square meters and showcasing a wide range of art, jewelry, furnishings, and cars.
The Salon is renowned for its inclusivity, featuring both antique and modern art, fostering a diverse and vibrant atmosphere. Vasiliy Bychkov, the founder, emphasizes the importance of presenting art without categorizing it as old or new, allowing visitors to discover and appreciate various forms of art based on their interests. This approach is reflected in the Salon's diverse offerings, which include Old Master paintings, sculptures, collectors' watches, contemporary art, modern pieces, and high-end jewelry.
The Salon's mission is to support and develop the domestic art market, promote and popularize Russian art, integrate the Russian art market into the global market, assist in replenishing public and private museum collections, and contribute to cultural education. By providing a platform for both established and emerging artists, the Salon plays a crucial role in nurturing and promoting the Russian art scene.
The Russian Antique Salon's unique blend of historical and contemporary art, coupled with its commitment to fostering cultural education and supporting the domestic art market, makes it a timeless event that continues to attract and engage visitors year after year.
