The Laurence Olivier Awards, or simply the Olivier Awards, are an annual event in London that celebrates the best in professional theatre. Established in 1976 as the Society of West End Theatre Awards, they were renamed in 1984 in honor of the renowned British actor Laurence Olivier. The awards are presented by the Society of London Theatre and recognize excellence in a wide range of categories, including plays, musicals, dance, opera, and affiliate theatre. They are considered the highest honor in British theatre, equivalent to the BAFTA Awards for film and television and the BRIT Awards for music.

The Olivier Awards are given to individuals involved in West End productions and other leading non-commercial theatres based in London. The awards have been held at various venues and theatres across London, including the Royal Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall. Television coverage is broadcast in prime time on ITV1, and radio coverage is provided by Magic Radio.

The awards have a rich history, with notable records and facts including the most Olivier Awards ever received by a play, which was nine by "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" in 2017, and the most Olivier Awards ever received by a musical, which is seven by "Sunset Boulevard" (2024), "Cabaret" (2022), "Hamilton" (2018), and "Matilda" (2012). The most nominations ever received by a production is 13, with "Hamilton" (2018) receiving the most with 13 nominations.

Every year, judging panels for theatre, opera, dance, and affiliate shows are put together by the Society of London Theatre. For opera, dance, and affiliates, each panel is made up of a mix of professional panelists and members of the public who have attended performances. The awards have always marked true theatrical greatness and celebrated excellence in the industry, with a Special Olivier Award given each year to a stand-out member of the British theatrical community.
