H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Chinese Calendar Limited Edition

Produced in an exclusive batch of 100 pieces, the Endeavour Chinese Calendar is not just a technical marvel but a harmonious blend of two diverse time-tracking systems. Share

In a world where timekeeping has been standardised by the Gregorian calendar, the Chinese lunisolar calendar stands as a testament to ancient wisdom and the rich tapestry of Chinese culture. Taking inspiration from this age-old system, H. Moser & Cie., in collaboration with Agenhor SA, have meticulously crafted a watch that combines both the Gregorian and the Chinese lunisolar calendar.

The Chinese calendar is a sophisticated time-keeping system that draws its roots from nature’s rhythm, revolving around the solar terms and lunar phases, essential to agriculture and traditional practices. This calendar intricately weaves the cycles of the moon with the solar year, creating a lunisolar masterpiece. Each Chinese month aligns with the moon’s phases, averaging around 29.53 days, leading to a lunar year that’s roughly 10.88 days shorter than its solar counterpart.

To ensure the alignment with solar years, an embolismic month is periodically added, a feature flawlessly incorporated in the Endeavour Chinese Calendar watch. The Endeavour Chinese Calendar watch is a marvel of mechanical innovation. While other Chinese calendars in the horological market necessitate at least 70 manual adjustments over a 12-year period, H. Moser & Cie., with the expertise of Agenhor SA, has created the first movement that can run seamlessly through this duodecimal cycle without external interventions. This remarkable achievement stems from the two cams operating in tandem, which provide data on the Chinese months and their durations.

Adorning a regal red gold Endeavour case, the watch reveals a Midnight Blue fumé dial, with the H. Moser & Cie logo subtly inscribed in transparent lacquer. The crescent-shaped windows show the Chinese months on the left and the lunisolar days and moon phases on the right. As the hands move in a retrograde motion, they trace these windows and return to their origin at the end of their journey.

Limited to a mere 100 pieces, the Endeavour Chinese Calendar Limited Edition is set to be a prized possession for watch aficionados and collectors worldwide. It will be accessible through H. Moser & Cie.’s global partner network.
