The Royal Ascot is the centrepiece of Ascot's year and dates back to 1711 when it was founded by Queen Anne. Every year Royal Ascot is attended by Queen Elizabeth II and other members of the British Royal Family such as The Prince of Wales, arriving each day in a horse-drawn carriage with the Royal procession taking place at the start of each race day and the raising of the Queen's Royal Standard.
Revered across the globe, Royal Ascot attracts many of racing’s finest horses to compete for more than £8m in prize money. It is also equally synonymous with sartorial elegance, being awash with exquisite fashion and magnificent millinery creations.
From the arrival of the Royal Procession as the clock strikes two, to the communal singing around Ascot’s Bandstand, each of the five days is an event which must be seen to be believed.
