Reflecting a grand complication imbued with minimalistic charm, this timepiece sublimely exemplifies Maison’s unique vision of style, juxtaposing high value with an air of discreet elegance.

The PF517 movement, the heart of this exceptional creation, boasts an impeccable 32mm diameter, underlining its precision, longevity and unsurpassed standards of Haute Horlogerie. Finishing techniques such as bevelling, circular graining, and Côtes de Genève are employed, symbolizing an unwavering dedication to excellence by the craftsmen at the watchmaking centre, who designed, produced, and assembled this timepiece.

Platinum, a subtly luxurious material, often mistaken for stainless steel by untrained observers, is the key ingredient for this Tonda PF Flying Tourbillon. In 2022, an unassuming monochromatic platinum backdrop set the stage for the intriguing display of the flying tourbillon. Advancing this aesthetic narrative, Parmigiani Fleurier presents its latest model at Watches & Wonders 2023—the Tonda PF Flying Tourbillon Milano Blue, substituting the erstwhile silver platinum stage with a captivating Milano Blue one.

The Milano Blue dial of the Tonda PF Flying Tourbillon distinguishes itself as the novelty of the year. In a departure from the usual monochromatic silver platinum, the latest model bears an enchanting Milano Blue dial adorned with a subtly textured matte finish. Moving away from the characteristic barleycorn guilloché pattern of regular Tonda PF designs, this simplification ensures all eyes are drawn to the star attraction—the flying tourbillon, prominently positioned at seven o’clock.

Elevating the aesthetic appeal are the skeletonised delta-shaped hands. An acute eye for detail is reflected in the meticulous chamfering on both the inner and outer lines of the hands. The tourbillon, sporting a vivid blue hand and a gleaming golden balance wheel, provides glimpses into the underlying opulence of the watch. In contrast, the rear view is decidedly less modest.

Adhering to the signature design language of the Tonda collection, the 42mm case boasts slim teardrop-shaped lugs and a slender 8.6mm profile, a feat made possible by the extra-thin automatic movement. The PF517 movement, a 32.6mm diameter marvel, is an epitome of precision and longevity, measuring a mere 3.4mm in thickness. It is crafted to the most stringent standards of Haute Horlogerie and assembled by the diligent artisans of the Watchmaking Centre.

Ensuring a water resistance of 100 meters, the case is fitted with a screw-down crown. This new interpretation, whilst being firmly rooted in the brand’s philosophy, seamlessly blends Maison’s stylistic vision with understated sophistication. The Tonda PF Flying Tourbillon stands as a beacon of purity and elegance, offering a refreshing contrast to the trend of ostentatious bezels frequently seen in today’s luxury sports timepieces.
