Braemar Highland Gathering
The Braemar Highland Gathering is an annual traditional Scottish event held in the picturesque village of Braemar, located in the Cairngorms National Park. The gathering is one of the most famous and iconic Highland Games in Scotland, attracting visitors from all over the world.
Dating back to the early 19th century, the Braemar Highland Gathering celebrates Scottish culture, history, and sports. The event features a wide range of traditional Highland games competitions, including caber tossing, hammer throwing, and tug-of-war, showcasing the strength and skill of the athletes.
Since 1848, The Gathering has been attended regularly by the reigning Monarch and members of the Royal Family. The foot races at The Gathering are the world’s oldest, having been organised on a regular basis since 1832.
