Tom Ford Spring/Summer 2018 Collection
The collection explores the nostalgia behind Ford's days at Gucci and a reflection upon fashion in the nineties. The front row included Kim Kardashian West, Julianne Moore, Cindy Crawford, and Ansel Elgort.
Within this collection, Ford wanted to delve into his nostalgic past by creating a line of clothing with a contemporary twist to trends from the nineties. As seen from the image above the use of a bandage dress along with the sequin/glitter detailing on the sleeves with block colour – created in both pastel pink and yellow to signify the continuity of the gelato shade range.
The recreation of trends from the nineties was a key aspect of the line for Ford, however, the difficulty came from creating a collection that would be able to be featured on the Instagram trend hype from influential individuals such as Kim Kardashian West who was seen in the front row.
The inspiration from the collection came as a result of his frequent travels, notably the trends he saw in LA were completely different to his days at Gucci, therefore he had to create a wearable style for all types of LA lifestyles- hence the use of ‘chic’ jackets.
