In a tribute to its 15th year in the watchmaking industry, Moritz Grossmann unveils the Tremblage XV Birthday Edition, a unique timepiece that exemplifies the brand’s commitment to traditional craftsmanship blended with modern innovation. This exclusive release accompanies the limited edition Backpage Green in marking this significant milestone.
The Tremblage XV Birthday Edition showcases the exquisite tremblage engraving technique, a traditional method that requires the engraver to use a burin with tiny back-and-forth movements. The result is a dial with a rough, matt surface that captures light, creating a soft shimmer. This distinctive effect is further enhanced by the use of German silver, known for its warm shade.
The dial’s three-dimensional appearance is striking, with hour numerals, a small seconds circle, and the historic ‘M. Grossmann’ logo appearing to hover above the surface. These details are not applied but rather created by carefully removing the background of the dial by hand, requiring exceptional precision and skill.
The dial also features inscriptions ‘2008-2023′ and the number ’15,’ referring to the manufactory’s anniversary. These are finished by hand to vary in visibility under different lighting conditions, adding to the dial’s dynamic character.
The hand-wound calibre 100.1, visible through the glass case back, represents the pinnacle of Moritz Grossmann’s mechanical artistry. The movement is constructed from untreated German silver, and every component is meticulously hand-finished. The barrel bridge is intricately grained, and the polished bevelled edges provide a shimmering effect.
The balance and escape wheel cock feature hand-applied floral patterns, while other surfaces showcase traditional polishing techniques. Encased in rose gold, the Tremblage XV Birthday Edition is a one-off piece, complemented by a brown alligator leather strap.
