Introducing the newest member of the collection, the Excalibur Spider Revuelto Flyback Chronograph is a striking timepiece and a nod to Roger Dubuis’ enduring partnership with Lamborghini Squadra Corse and draws inspiration from the remarkable Lamborghini Revuelto–the first-ever super sports V12 hybrid plug-in HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle).
Roger Dubuis has infused this watch with mesmerizing creativity, from its vivid colours to its aerodynamic curves, making it a delight for any supercar enthusiast. The design embodies a harmonious blend of traditional DNA and innovative mechanics, further elevating its presence in the spotlight.
Venturing back to 1995, Roger Dubuis established his company and embedded the esteemed chronograph calibre in his inaugural creations, setting a precedent for excellence. The Maison has since evolved through five generations of chronograph design, with the latest marvels, the Monovortex Split-Seconds Chronograph and the Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph, marking the return of this celebrated complication to the Maison’s repertoire in 2023.
The newest addition, the Excalibur Spider Revuelto Flyback Chronograph, embodies the Maison’s pinnacle of savoir-faire and is set to be unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2023 in Shanghai. Powered by the RD780, this watch boasts a 72-hour power reserve and a multitude of intricate features, courtesy of Roger Dubuis’ relentless curiosity and technical ingenuity. The Flyback function and the integration of the chronograph complication into the movement from scratch exemplify the calibre’s exceptional standard and aesthetic identity.
The visible column wheel at 6 o’clock, a signature component governing the chronograph’s operations, and the calibre’s vertical clutch visible through the caseback, signify watchmaking excellence and reflect supercar design elements. Additionally, innovative features like the Second Braking System (SBS) and the 120° Rotating Minute Counter (RMC) contribute to the watch’s allure for connoisseurs and collectors.
The RD780 calibre showcases a plethora of performance-enhancing features, such as the tilted balance wheel at 9 o’clock, the diamond-coated silicon escapement wheel, and the Poinçon de Genève certification, reflecting the Maison’s commitment to superior quality and craftsmanship.
The exterior design of this 45mm timepiece is a tribute to speed, with eye-catching shades of orange and green and a signature “Y” shape bar on the dial mirroring the Lamborghini Revuelto’s headlights. The case, crafted in lightweight carbon and paired with a ceramic bezel, and the multi-dimensional engineering visible within the design, pay homage to supercar construction and aesthetics. The watch’s rotor, shaped like the rims of a supercar’s wheel, and the green rubber strap with orange stitching, featuring a Quick Release System, add finishing touches to this captivating timepiece, limited to 88 pieces.
