lifestyle /travel Xigera Safari Lodge, Okavango Delta, Botswana opening in 2020 A story of an ancient place; of rebirth, of family legacy, and of a lodge that is so pioneering, so authentic, that it reinvents the very idea of what it means to experience the African bush.
by Royist Lifestyle

Xigera (“Kee-jera”), is a bold new statement in Botswana’s most unspoilt wilderness, opening in June 2020 on the western side of the Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The resort promises to be a labour of love, a miraculous and enchanting transformation that will create experiences that are, quite simply, extraordinary.

Xigera offers just 12 fully air-conditioned suites. Meticulously designed to frame the breath-taking floodplains and riverine forests, the lodge is in complete synergy with its surroundings. Spacious suites clad in flame-torched timber look out onto the lily-filled lagoons as bushbuck amble below its elevated timber walkways. Immersed in unparalleled luxury and surrounded by exclusively commissioned furnishings, guests can witness the quiet magnitude of nature’s rhythms and be awakened to their own sense of peace.

Deeply connected to and inspired by the Delta, the Xigera Lodge has been sensitively designed to echo the surrounding natural world. Baobab, knob thorn and marula trees damaged by elephants have been transformed into hand-carved benches, while hand-forged copper and steel consoles emulate the flowing rivers. The collection of extraordinary works of art and design, each one handmade and unique, is ground-breaking in its scope – created by a roster of Africa’s most globally recongised designers and the first of its kind on the continent for a design project of this scale.

But it is the people that define Xigera, as you’d expect from a Red Carnation creation, with 105 exceptional staff looking after 24 guests, allowing an experience of exclusive flexibility. Xigera offers a unique chance to explore the bush the way you want to, defined by the Red Carnation art of hospitality.
