Born in Seattle, Yoon Ahn is known for her playful jewellery with mini silver teddy bear pendants; gold safety pin necklaces; funky mini hand objects and cool high-tech headphones. A graphic artist by training, she partnered with her husband, rapper Verbal, to create the brand Ambush, though she is very much the principal designer.
The pair have also partnered on projects with Sacai, Colette and Kitsuné and appeared in a global ad campaign for Louis Vuitton, where Jones was formerly the menswear designer.
Yoon was also a 2017 LVMH Prize finalist, the luxury conglomerate that controls Dior.
This marks Kim Jones’ first major aesthetic and executive decision in his first month as Dior Homme artistic director, as he begins to give shape his vision. His masterly mixture of contemporary aesthetics and respect of brand-specific history have proven a hit during his tenure at Louis Vuitton and we have good reason to believe his success will continue at Dior.
