The Qlocktwo Classic Creator’s Edition Metamorphite crafted with millions of years old slate

Since 2009, Qlocktwo has been handcrafted individually to order at the company's Manufaktur in Schwäbisch Gmünd. Share

The Qlocktwo Classic Creator’s Edition Metamorphite adds another highlight to the successful collection of the design manufactory from Schwäbisch Gmünd. Millions of years old slate fascinates on the front cover of the new model. The characteristic, unique structure of the sedimentary rock creates an eye-catching play of colors with various shades of grey. Each piece is unique and unfolds its impressive visual effect as a design or art object in the sizes Classic (45 x 45 cm) and Large (90 x 90 cm).

350 to 400 million years of pressure create the grey shaded slate from clay slurry. The fissile stone is still used today for building houses, designing stylish fireplaces and serving in exclusive restaurants. A unique appearance is granted to each wall clock by the typical color and unmistakable structure of slate.

Letters indicating the time are cut out of the slate material of the Metamorphite model using high end technology. High tech meets rocks of millions of years of age. The two founders and designers of Qlocktwo, Marco Biegert and Andreas Funk, agree: “Our Creator’s Edition Metamorphite turns tectonically formed layers of rock into a design object.”

The clock represents exclusivity in material and workmanship. In addition to the new Metamorphite in slate, the Creator’s Edition includes other clocks with fronts in five sophisticated materials – and, as always, in more than 20 languages.
